Latest news before the start

Updated: Oct 8

While Jos Verstappen and Kimera Automobili were the stars of the three-day preparation for the Tour de Corse Historique, attention now shifts to the favorites, starting with Alain and Sylvie Oreille, who will be the first to set off from Porto-Vecchio this morning.

On to the grand start

As an exception to the usual format, the competitors in the competition category (VHC) and the regularity categories (VHRS, Legend) will embark on two different 117 km loops this morning, both finishing in Porto-Vecchio. Each route includes two special stages, providing the first opportunity to establish a hierarchy among the leading contenders for the 2024 edition.

In an interesting note, Alain and Sylvie Oreille will be the first to start in their Porsche 911, bearing race number 1. Having already won the 2020 edition, the former double Group N World Rally Champion (1989 and 1990), a regular competitor in both modern and historic versions of this rally, will aim to add a third victory to his impressive record. On the starting podium, eyes will also be on Jos Verstappen, who is making his debut in historic rallying, also driving a Porsche 911.

Five days of racing

The Tour de Corse Historique spans five days, covering nearly 1,000 km, with 386 km of timed sections across 17 special stages. The rally will conclude on Saturday in Porto-Vecchio, following stages in Bastia Poretta, Calvi, and Propriano.
